10 Amazing Spider-Man 2 Script Changes That Drastically Changed The Film

5. Peter's Magic Blood And The Goblin Suit

It's easy to see that Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman penned both this film and Star Trek Into Darkness, because they share a lot of similarities, including the inclusion of magic blood. In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it's revealed that the secret to Peter's abilities are actually in his blood, which makes him immune to the negative effects of the spider venom that Richard Parker and Norman Osborn developed. Somewhere along the line, Harry Osborn finds out about the blood, and asks Spider-Man, not knowing he's Peter, to give him some in order to cure the disease that killed his father. Spider-Man refuses, Harry finds out Peter is Spidey, and needless to say their friendship goes down the toilet. In the original script, Peter actually does give Harry his blood. This is actually a big improvement on the finished film, which sees an upset Harry inject himself with spider venom without Pete's blood, knowing full well that it can have damaging effects on him. The Goblin suit and glider are better explained in the original script as well. In the film, it's just at Oscorp, ready to be worn and taken for a ride (pumpkin bombs and all). In the first draft, it was actually designed specifically for Norman Osborn, probably as a way to keep him alive until he found a cure. Harry eventually finds it in hidden away Norman's boathouse.
