10 Amazing Spider-Man 2 Script Changes That Drastically Changed The Film
4. J Jonah Jameson Cameo
J Jonah Jameson has been absent in the new franchise, probably as a way to stall having to recast the character for as long as possible. JK Simmons was a great JJJ, and put quite the stamp on the role, so it'll be hard for someone to fill those shoes. In the original draft, JJJ was present, as was his assistant, Robbie Robertson. Peter attends Empire State University, and goes to the Daily Bugle to sell JJJ some of his Spider-Man photos. JJJ gives him a tour of the newspaper, and complains about how the internet is killing print journalism. Later, the final fight between Electro and Spidey includes the Daily Bugle, which they both crash through. JJJ isin fact in the final film, but only briefly, as more of an Easter egg. He's the person Peter emails his pictures to, which actually kind of makes sense, in the digital age. There's really no need for Peter to jot down to the Bugle every time he's got a pic for JJJ (especially since he has a habit of shooting down most of them). Still, it would have been cool to see him.
