10 AMAZING Trailers That Sold Bad Movies
3. Avatar: The Last Airbender
Another epic misfire from M. Night. Shyamalan this time with cult favourite tv series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Based on the animated series of the same name, this live action full length film about a boy who has the power to control all the elements should have been a no-brainer winner.
The trailer is filled with a voice, not dissimilar to in the show, telling us that those who can control the elements exist and the fire nation has begun an attack on the other nations. We see Prince Zuko introduced as the main antagonist and the trailer overall paints a true adaption of the animation.
However, not a single thing in this film manages to land. Surprisingly from such a seasoned director almost every part of this movie is a misstep. Denying Zuko the character arc much beloved by fans is almost unforgivable ontop of the fact that the CGI is often laughed at.
The dialogue is far too serious and clunky and ignores all the humour in its source material. Truly a disappointment after what promised to be an exciting reimagining of a childhood favourite.
