10 AMAZING Trailers That Sold Bad Movies
2. Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets
Alien after alien after alien, that is all you see for the first half of this trailer. Advertised as an action film so packed with different creature and incredible cinematography you could ask for more and more of this world and never get bored. That is not what happened with this film.
The creatures are barely included as any other than supporting characters for Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevinge's boring leads whose chemistry is painful and dialogue in the first 20 minutes is dull at best. The best part about this film is Rihanna's alien Bubble who - spoiler alert- dies before she gains any real space to grow. There is a chase scene in the middle which dashes through interesting visuals but returns to the boring inside of a spaceship as soon as it starts.
What was sold as a stunning film with innovative ideas and creative creatures ended up being another mediocre sci-fi film, which thinks that going to an Ivy League school would somehow still be important in this city of a thousand planets.
