10 Amazing Trailers That Tricked You Into Seeing Terrible Sci-Fi Movies
7. Thor: Love And Thunder
At this point, Marvel barely even needs trailers to get butts in seats. They could just randomly announce a new flick, chuck it into theatres and still expect to break even. Despite that, it's way more likely that'll you'll book tickets if you see something good before the release, which Thor: Love and Thunder was happy to provide.
The trailer for the fourth Thor movie was pulsing with excitement as it quickly conjured up the same vibes as Taika Waititi's previous MCU masterpiece, Thor: Ragnarok. You had a classic rock needle-drop, some well-timed humour, more of the beloved Korg, bright visuals and even the added fun of seeing Jane kicking ass as Mighty Thor.
Another massive stand-out from was the chance to see Christian Bale's Gorr, The God Butcher. Boy, howdy, did this character look fearsome or what? Even in this two-minute ad, you could tell how much sinister energy Bale was pulling in.
This trailer promised good humour, a solid romantic hook and an instant classic villain. In the end, fans got barely half of that, as the comedy was overbearing, the love story fell flat, and Bale's stunning performance was woefully underused.
