10 Amazing Villains Wasted In Terrible Superhero Movies
8. The Lizard - The Amazing Spider-Man
With big superhero properties like Spider-Man, there's a tendency to only, "play the hits" as it were, especially when it comes to the villains of the piece. Just look to any Superman film for proof of this. But, to Wark Webb's credit, he led his Spider-Man films off with a villain no one that didn't read comics had ever seen before. Dr. Curt Connors - The Lizard.
Sadly, that's all the credit he gets, because like the rest of the film, this version of The Lizard falls flat on its face.
The Lizard is one of the most complicated villains in the Spidey rogues gallery, a good man - a friend and mentor to Peter, even - turned into a vicious beast by trying to bend nature to his whims. And while the origin is still there, the character of Dr. Connors in this movie is so bland and forgettable that you can't bring yourself to feel sorry for him.
The fact that they removed his family from the adaptation might have something to do with that. Though if nothing else that did spare us the horror of the film trying to be a little too much like the comics.
