10 Announced Movie Remakes That COULD Be Great
7. The Death of Robin Hood
There's an instinct to groan at the announcement of another Robin Hood movie being made, given that Hollywood's two most recent efforts - the Ridley Scott-directed, Russell Crowe-starring take in 2010 and the Taron Egerton-led disaster in 2018 - both failed to suggest there was much interest left in the "IP."
Who among us is chomping at the bit for a new Robin Hood film? But this "reimagining" of the Robin Hood myth, The Death of Robin Hood, is an A24-distributed project which just so happens to star Hugh Jackman as a grizzled, older Robin Hood who is forced to reckon with his life of crime.
In addition to the wider cast including Jodie Comer and Bill SkarsgÄrd, it's also being written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, who made a name for himself with his debut Pig and recent follow-up A Quiet Place: Day One.
Plus, given that Sarnoski was just recently announced to be directing the Death Stranding adaptation for A24, it's safe to say that the studio is very happy with the filmmaker's rendition of Robin Hood.
While it's easy to laugh at classic tales getting gritty, dark revisions, at least this one has the cast and crew plaudits to back it up. It'd be very surprising if this was bad, at least.
