10 Announced Movie Remakes That COULD Be Great

There's a strong argument to be made that Hollywood should spend less time remaking great, timeless movies than interesting, rough-around-the-edges films that didn't quite hit their full potential.

And so, it's tough not to be at least mildly intrigued by the impending remake of Enemy Mine - a 1985 sci-fi film starring Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett Jr. as a human and alien respectively, who end up stranded on a hostile planet and forced to work together to survive.

Though it flopped at the box office and received mixed critical reviews, Enemy Mine has remained a cult fave with sci-fi fans, and last June a remake was unexpectedly announced.

The big hook, however, is that the remake is being written by Terry Matalas, who received considerable acclaim for his work on the 12 Monkeys TV series and the third season of Star Trek: Picard.

The latter is especially noteworthy given that an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, "The Enemy," was even heavily inspired by Enemy Mine.

Above all else, it's easy to see how Matalas, a smart writer of contemporary sci-fi, could give Enemy Mine a worthy modern update.

Now, we just need to see who ends up playing the two leads.
