2. Carl Bruner (Ghost)

carlbruner Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) is a banker who discovers a major discrepancy in multiple bank accounts at his work and confides in his colleague and good friend Carl Bruner (Tony Goldwyn) about it. Soon after, a thug attacks Sam and his girlfriend Molly Jensen (Demi Moore) and Sam dies as the result of a gunshot. His ghost immediately rises from the corpse. As a ghost, Sam discovers than Carl was actually the man responsible for the discrepancies and actually arranged the attack to try to get Sam's security codes in order to transfer money between accounts. Via his contact with psychic medium Oda Mae Brown (Whoopie Goldberg), Sam manages to have Carl's accounts emptied and uses his ghostly abilities to let Carl know that he is on to him. Desperate to get his hands on his money, Carl threatens to kill Sam's girlfriend. Whilst holding Molly at gunpoint, Carl is disarmed by Sam's ghost and tries to escape through a window. In doing so, he smashes the glass which falls on to him and kills him. For his evil deeds in life, Carl's ghost is dragged to hell by shadowy demons as Sam watches - much to the delight of the viewing audience.
