10 Ant-Man Trailer Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed

9. Old Man Hank

Many were surprised when it was announced Paul Rudd would be playing Scott Lang as Ant-Man, rather than Hank Pym, with Michael Douglas taking the older, mentor role. Which is totally different from the Pym that's evident in the Marvel comic books, a hero who's been around since the early days of the Avengers but €“ like every other Marvel superhero €“ barely looks like he's aged a couple of years. It's true that Pym passed on the mantle of Ant-Man to Scott in the comics, too, but not for a good long while. Heading into a world where Hank Pym is already knocking on a bit when we're first introduced to him is interesting (and probably helps Marvel skip over some of his more unsavoury habits ie drinking and beating his wife). In fact Pym is so old here that he already has a daughter, Hope Van Dyne, presumably with his wife Janet, who he was married to in the comics. Comparing Douglas to the Hank Pym of the source material is pretty much pointless, because he's way older, and looks totally different. There's still some similarities though, if you look hard enough...
