The Buzz: A fascinating true story based on Saroo Brierley's non-fiction book A Long Way Home, about his desperate search for his long-lost family using Google Earth, directed by Emmy-nominated TV director Garth Davis (Top of the Lake), making his feature debut. Dev Patel stars alongside two-time Oscar nominee Rooney Mara and one-time winner Nicole Kidman.

Why It's Already Lost: Reviews have been solidly positive for the most part, yet despite all that pre-Toronto Best Picture buzz, this is registering more in the three-star category so far.

It could get lucky and score a stray nomination or two, but its status as a potential front-runner for the big prize has basically been obliterated by the revelation that it's really just a decent, sentimental movie and not a whole lot more.
