There has been plenty going on in the world of Star Trek over the last few years, with the likes of Lower Decks, Section 31, and Strange New Worlds, that no Trekkie has been left unattended to. However, there are a lot of people, not just Star Trek fans but mainstream audiences, who have been waiting for another entry in the Kelvin Universe for some time.
The Kelvin Universe, for the uninitiated, is the corner of Star Trek lore where you will see Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, leading the USS Enterprise against the likes of Nero (Eric Bana), Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch), and Krall (Idris Elba).
In the nine years since Star Trek Beyond released, there have been all kinds of theories, rumours, and iterations, one of the most interesting being that there was an idea to bring Kirk together with his father, George (Chris Hemsworth). Another being that Quentin Tarantino at one point threw his hat in the ring to make the film.
Despite that, there is still nothing solid coming, and although Simon Pegg and multiple other stars of the franchise have reiterated their enthusiasm for returning to the Enterprise, it seems more and more unlikely every day.
