10 Anticipated Movie Sequels Stuck In Development Hell
2. Pirates Of The Caribbean 6
As soon as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl landed in 2003, Disney had a smash hit on its hands. Even though none of the following four films quite lived up to the standards of the original - though Dead Man's Chest came damn close - there is still call for a return to the high seas over 20 years later.
The fourth and fifth entries into the franchise, On Stranger Tides and Dead Men Tell No Tales, weren't as well received as the first three, but this still hasn't put Disney off adding to the story, as Pirates 6 is officially in the works.
Like Star Trek 4, this has seen a lot of different versions and a lot of changes. It was undoubtedly affected by Johnny Depp's legal issues, but even when Margot Robbie was brought on board to helm the ship, as it were, things still didn't get moving.
Robbie is no longer attached to the film, though Orlando Bloom has recently spoke about the potential of bringing Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) back, something that Pirates 5 toyed with. Then, there is, of course, the post-credit tease to address, in which Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) appeared to be out for revenge against Turner. This movie has potential, but almost a decade after Dead Men Tell No Tales, it would be a genuine surprise if this ever saw the light of day.
