10 Asian Horror Movies Everyone Needs To Watch

Pulse is a 2001 Japanese horror film that focuses greatly on technology, and if The Ring made you frightened of playing your favourite old VHS tapes, then this movie might just be the thing to put you off surfing the internet.

Written and directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, Pulse stars Haruhiko Kato and Kumico Aso. The story follows in the steps of character Michi Kudo, who works at a shop. Her colleague is working on a computer at home but doesn't show up to work for several days, leading Kudo to investigate. Without giving any major spoilers, the plot then explores a ghostly energy that manages to invade and attack people through the use of the internet.

Pulse is, in many ways, ahead of its time; its use of technology in a refreshing way certainly helps, and there are plenty of scares and unsettling scenes to keep you tense throughout. The picture is a sinister and unnerving experience. Well received by critics and fans upon release, the production is certainly worth a watch if you are into horror with a twist.
