The Medium is a 2021 Thai-South Korean film presented as a "documentary". Directed by Banjong Pisanthanakun and produced by Na Hong-jin, it stars Narilya Gulmongkolpech, Sawanee Utoomma and Sirani Yankittikan. The film was well received upon release, and it seems to be rapidly becoming a fan-favourite for those who love Asian horror.

The story follows a family in Isan, Thailand, where a Shaman comes to understand that the changes in his nephew are due to his being possessed by an entity. At first, he believes that the possessing spirit isn't to be feared, but troubling events begin to spiral out of control, and it is evident something bad and sinister is at play.

The Medium is extremely creepy, solemn and explores possession in a unique way. It is easy to see why this Thai-Korean gem is fast becoming a favourite amongst horror afficionados.

You can currently stream The Medium on Netflix.
