10 Avengers: Age Of Ultron Surprises That Could Happen

10. Inhumans Are The New Mutants

Ever since Marvel announced that both Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch will appear in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the first question on everyone€™s mind was, €œhow can they do that?€. Since Marvel sold the X-Men movie rights to Fox long ago, that means Marvel is prohibited from using the mutants in their movies, ditto for the Fantastic Four. But due to the interconnected nature of the Marvel Universe, there are some characters that fall in the gray area. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are two of these characters, because even though they first premiered in the X-Men titles, they have a very long association with The Avengers. The deal between Marvel and Fox is that both can use these characters, but with some caveats. Marvel can€™t use either of the two M-words€”mutant or Magneto. This has led to speculation for some time that Marvel will make Pietro and Wanda Inhumans instead of mutants. When the two characters appeared during the credits of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Baron Strucker talked about burying dead test subjects, but there were two survivors€”the twins. The current season of Agents of SHIELD has also featured ties to the Inhumans through Skye and her father, complete with the Terrigen Mists appearing at the end of the mid-season finale and transforming both Skye and Raina. All this seems to point to Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch being descendants of the Inhumans and the experiments conducted by Baron Strucker look like they might have involved unlocking the powers of the twins.
