10 Avengers: Age Of Ultron Surprises That Could Happen
7. Black Widow's Past
One aspect of the Age of Ultron trailer has left several people scratching their heads, which is the inclusion of clips of a ballet studio. After all, what the hell does ballet dancing have to do with killer robots? The answer to that question lies in the origin of the Black Widow. Since her first appearance in 1964, Natasha Romanovs past has gone through a number of revisions and retcons. One version of her past had her studying to be a ballerina, although this was later retconned and said to be false memories implanted by the Soviet Unions covert Red Room facility. We know very little about Black Widows past in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In The Winter Soldier, Arnim Zola said she was born in the 80s, but in that same film, Natasha mentions working for the KGB. The KGB was dissolved in 1991, meaning Natasha would have still been a child at that point. Was it just a gaffe on the part of the filmmakers, or was it the hint of something more? Could Zolas intel on Natasha have been incorrect and is she actually much older than she looks, like in the comics? Given the ballerina scenes in the Age of Ultron, we may finally get some insight into Natashas past.
