6. War Machine Returns

A sneak peek of Age of Ultron included a scene with the entire group relaxing at Avengers Tower, tossing back a few drinks, and questioning Thor€™s claim that only those who are worthy can lift Mjolnir. One by one, the characters try to lift the hammer, and though Cap is able to move it slightly, none but Thor are able to truly hold it. In one particularly amusing scene, both Tony Stark and Jim Rhodes attempt to lift the hammer together using the gauntlets from their armor. What€™s interesting about this scene is Rhodey is not wearing a gauntlet from the Iron Patriot armor. Instead, he€™s using one from the War Machine suit. Could Age of Ultron see Rhodey suiting up once more as War Machine? That would definitely be a great treat. The Iron Patriot is a stupid name and the armor was particularly ugly in Iron Man 3. Initial questions about Iron Man 3 suggested that Rhodey made the change because he was inspired by Cap€™s return, but given that Cap€™s name wasn€™t even mentioned in that film, Rhodey said the change was essentially for marketing purposes. If Rhodey does indeed ditch the Iron Patriot suit for War Machine, then that means undoing yet another useless change thrown in by Iron Man 3, and that€™s a good thing.
