3. Best Actor (TV Musical Or Comedy) Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)
It was a great night for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew, as Andy Samberg delivered one of the night's biggest shocks by scooping the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV award. The big three in terms of competition were Jason Bateman (Arrested Development), Michael J. Fox (The Michael J. Fox show) and Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), though each had a reason to lose to Samberg. Both Bateman and Parsons have won for their respective roles before, while Fox was simply glad to be nominated due to the mixed reception the show has received. As mentioned, awards shows love championing on-the-up talent, and this was their tip of the hat to Samberg. Who was the most deserving? For me, it would unquestionably be Bateman, who really poured himself into the new season of Arrested Development, and a thumbs up for that work would also be a tacit approval of Netflix's revolutionary TV delivery system (something they got anyway with Robin Wright's win for House of Cards).
