10 Awesome 2022 Movies That Didn't Deserve To Flop

9. The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent

three hundred years of longing

Nicolas Cage playing present-day, struggling Nicolas Cage, who's visited by visions of a younger, more successful Nicolas Cage, also played by Nicolas Cage?

The premise of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is enough to pique the interest of many a cinemagoer. Throw in a $30 million budget that's significantly higher than the majority of Cage's output of the past decade or so, plus a cast that features the likes of Pedro Pascal, Sharon Horgan, Tiffany Haddish and Ike Barinholtz, and hope was high that Unbearable Weight would be a hit.

Despite the hype, the excitement, the bonkers plot, and favourable critical response - the film currently standing at 87% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes - The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent failed to make a notable dent at the worldwide box office. In fact, the picture ended up falling just short of making its budget back.

By the sheer nature of its premise, it could well be that The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent finds itself becoming a cult favourite in years to come. For now, regardless of the praise it received in certain corners, the movie unfortunately has to be labelled a dud when it comes to cold hard cash and figures.
