10 Awesome Actors Who Totally Lost Their Momentum

6. Edward Norton

Much like Matthew McConaughey, Edward Norton is another actor to have gone through multiple stages of career success. Despite being a very talented actor, rumours of being hard to work with have followed him for years, which might help make sense of his sporadic returns to the screen when they do suddenly occur.

Norton had a slow career resurgence in 2012 following years of inactivity with Moonrise Kingdom and The Bourne Legacy, before fully returning to the scene in 2014 in critical award season darlings The Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman. Oscar-nominated for the latter, it seemed like Norton’s wonderful roles in fantastic movies were here to stay again.

But it wasn’t to be. Two voice roles in animated movies – Sausage Party and Isle of Dogs, about as different as you can be in terms of animation – and a role in the critically panned Collateral Beauty have been his only credits since his Oscar nomination. Norton does have a passion project releasing in November 2019 entitled Motherless Brooklyn, so perhaps that can restart the fire once more.

Chances are I’m watching a movie or replaying Mass Effect rather than doing anything productive.
