Being only twenty-seven, there’s still time for Shailene Woodley to bounce back in the movie space, and a successful turn in the miniseries Big Little Lies garnering her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations has saved her from obscurity.

But there was a time where Woodley seemed to rule the big screen. With the Divergent series starting in 2014 with moderate success and acclaimed turns in popular indies like The Descendants and The Spectacular Now, and the massively successful and well-received The Fault In Our Stars, she seemed to be an unstoppable force of rising talent.

But when the Divergent series dried up – resulting in the cancellation of its planned final instalment – and her credits were filled with underwhelming indie roles in Snowden and Adrift, Woodley’s film career took a dive somewhere in the mid-2010s. TV seems to be working for her though, so maybe her film career lost its momentum to enable her to pursue greater projects elsewhere.
