Whats It About: Imagine Men In Black updated for the fantasy generation. Ryan Reynolds cop is murdered and wakes up in a bizarre world where dead cops fight evil spirits as the titular pun agency. Jeff Bridges gruff cop takes Reynolds under his wing and together they attempt to solve his murder. Theres much to explore in this side world of the dead, with the coolest feature being the alternate forms of the deceased cops; Reynolds is an old Chinese man, Bridges a hot blonde.
Why Itll Be Awesome: The concept is pure genius and theres a hope the film will be able to balance the plot and the sheer deliriousness of the concept. German director Robert Schwentke has never been tested on this scale before, but signs are good. From the trailer, Bridges seems to be channelling Rooster Cogburn, which is never a bad thing, and Reynolds, ever impervious to his recent failures, seems much more at home in a lighthearted romp.
