10 Awesome Comic Book Movie Moments When Characters Received Power-Ups

2. Captain America

Steve Rogers was a scrawny, weak and timid kid often being beaten up at the start of The First Avenger. By the end of the film he was a fully fledged superhero, complete with costume, shield and courageous valour. How did this remarkable transformation occur? Through a scientific power-up in the form of the super-serum that endowed him with superpowers, obviously. This boost enabled him to fight Hydra and The Red Skull, as well as facilitating his survival in the arctic coma. The impact of this power-up on the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been immense; it led not only to Cap€™s survival, but to the experiments that would create The Incredible Hulk. As far as power ups go, this one has been integral, but it is also one of the most transformative; in the cocoon-like chamber that creates Captain America, Steve Rogers went from scrawny child to muscled man. Although this is an origins story of sorts, it is not the typical scientific experiment gone awry, like Spider-Man, Deadpool or even Wolverine. Captain America is a success story due to this power-up, and the immense impact that the serum had on Captain America made his transformation one of the biggest changes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
