3. Borg Queen - Star Trek: First Contact (1996)
I know we all remember the Borg; those lovable hive-mind cyborgs from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Well, as we learned from Star Trek: First Contact, they have a queen (played by the always creepy Alice Krige from Ghost Story and Sleepwalkers). And that queen was there when Picard was assimilated and became Locutus (one of the creepier STNG episodes, I think). In First Contact, the Borg Queen turns her malevolence toward Data, tempting him with increased humanity if he will become her companion. To this day, the image of the Borg Queen continues to freak me out. She makes a final appearance in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Endgame".
2. Robocop (1987)
Robocop is easily one of the most famous cyborgs in cinema history. This schlocky, cult film contains one of the few pure cyborgs in movies. Set in Detroit in the near future, Robocop takes an ordinary, albeit dead, policeman (Peter Weller) and places him in the body of an indestructible cyborg who rids the city of crime. Unfortunately for his corrupt creators, Robocop retains some of his humanity and in a plot line reminiscent of Frankenstein, he turns on his creator. Despite its over-the-top methodology, Robocop is an excellent movie and served as director Paul Verhoeven's American breakout film. Verhoeven used Robocop as a springboard to such classic movies as the original Total Recall, Basic Instinct, and Starship Troopers.
