3. Thirteen Ghosts - Take A Slice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBBMMNPftSo Steve Beck's remake of the classic 13 Ghosts isn't up to much narratively; the film is about a family who move into a mansion which might or might not - we'll let you guess which - be haunted by the ghosts of thirteen women who were sealed in the basement. The best scene occurs early on - another case of a film getting the good stuff out of the way early - when the smarmy lawyer goes downstairs to sort out payment, only to be confronted by the first of the ghosts. He makes a rude remark that she doesn't take too kindly to, and when he goes to leave, one of the house's many special ceiling-to-floor glass doors slams down through him, essentially bisecting him. For a moment, we know something has happened but we're not quite sure what; then, as one half of his body begins to slide down the glass, we realise, and it's a wonderfully glorious, gory moment. I particularly like how the other half of his body stays suctioned to the glass for a few more moments, allowing us to see the lawyer's insides (namely his brain) before it also slides away.
