10 Awesome Deaths Of Annoying Movie Characters

A lot of films, whether good or bad, are happy to hurl us characters that we love to hate, characters who either by their virtues or by their sheer irritation factor make us want to see them die horrible, violent and drawn-out deaths. Most of the time, films disappoint us and don't seem even remotely self-aware of this, but thankfully, the makers of these films served us up irksome characters who then bit the dust in wildly entertaining and imaginative fashion, making for many a classic cinematic moment. So, though these characters might have been the pinnacle of annoyance when we first met them, the filmmakers had the good sense to send them for a long walk off a short pier, and the result is...10 thoroughly awesome movie deaths of annoying characters.

10. Sgt. Hartman - Full Metal Jacket

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OUvJadE6l0&t=2m13s Gunnery Sgt. Hartman, the tyrannical drill instructor we meet at the beginning of Stanley Kurbick's war masterpiece, is, to put it lightly, a piece of work. The guy makes an art out of insults, putting his men down with a determined aggression that's at once disturbing and hilarious. Hartman likes to see his men transform from wads of dough into chiselled agents of death, yet with one of his students, Private Leonard "Gomer Pile" Lawrence, he finds a challenge the likes of which he never expected. One night, after taking endless abuse from not only Hartman but in fact the majority of his classmates, Lawrence snaps, sounding off in the shower room about military drills while holding his rifle. Hartman enters to see what all the commotion is about, and sense would suggest that perhaps a "softly, softly" approach might be a good option here. Instead, Hartman hurls another barrage of insults at Lawrence, to which Lawrence retorts by raising his gun and swiftly shooting Hartman through the chest, to the amazement of classmate Pvt. Joker, who has watched all of this happen. Hartman might have provided us with some laughs, but the guy would have been a nightmare to contend with in real life, so good on Lawrence, even if he did punch his own ticket seconds later with a round through the dome.
