10 Awesome Deleted Scenes That Should Have Made the Cut

3. Stairway to Heaven - Almost Famous

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra9YR1ze0w0 Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous is all about the love of music, and it's a shame that this scene couldn't make it into the final cut, because perhaps no scene in the film cements that sentiment quite as well. The reason for it being cut? The scene features heavy use of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven", but Crowe couldn't get the necessary clearance to use the song, which essentially renders it useless, with Crowe claiming he would never had even filmed the scene had he known this in advance. Still, it does make for a neat DVD extra, which requires viewers to play their own copy of Stairway to Heaven at the same time as William, or simply watch the above video, which has been usefully edited together for us. Even outside of the rights issue, though, it is a very long scene that asks a lot of patience from the viewer, so we can understand why it's not in there. Still, it's a classic deleted scene that rock enthusiasts the world over would have loved; the facial reactions of the characters say a lot and reinforce the film's central theme, as well as reminding us of the awesome power of the song in the first place.
