10 Awesome Female Directors Who Need A Superhero Movie

6. Kathryn Bigelow

Kathryn Bigelow has one great accomplishment to her name that distinguishes her from not only every other woman on this list, but also most of the men who have ever directed superhero movies: she's a Best Director Oscar winner (for The Hurt Locker).

Her career is filled with stereotypically masculine movies such as Point Break, K-19: The Widowmaker and Zero Dark Thirty to name just a few, and her action chops alone make her an excellent choice for a superhero movie. The fact that she's so well-versed in doubling down on character too, though, is the icing on the cake.

How Likely Is It?: Bigelow seems to prefer more journalistic, grounded movies these days, and considering she's 65 years old (though it's hard to believe), she's probably only got 10-15 years of active filmmaking work left in her, so it's a pretty small window, all things considered. It probably won't happen, but how awesome would it be if it did? 3/10
