10 Awesome Horror Movie Villains (With Surprisingly Low Kill Counts)
3. Mister Babadook (The Babadook)
This independent, Australian horror film exploded onto the scene in 2014, becoming an instant favourite with horror fans. A mother and son are tormented by a character from a children's book, Mister Babadook. The monstrous figure appears with pale skin, long spindling fingers and a top hat, and quickly became a recognisable figure among the genre.
Mister Babadook becomes increasingly more disruptive in the pairs lives causing visions and even illness but does not actually cause the death of anyone, quite surprisingly. When under the influence of the Babadook, mother Amelia does snap the neck of the family dog, however for the purpose of this list only human deaths are being counted. Therefore the terrifying Mister Babadook has a harmless kill count of zero.
Babadook himself, is fairly similar looking to a typical horror villain you would find in other horror films released around the time, such as Insidious or Sinister. This could explain why Babadook has on occasion, been roped into the same category as them. When in actual fact the film is very different from those, relying much less on death for its horror and more on the breakdown of a family.
