10 Awesome Horror Movies You Probably Missed In 2018
6. The Night Eats The World
Before the collective groans at the prospect of yet another addition to the already overcrowded zombie genre, let’s get one thing straight – The Night Eats the World is not your typical zombie movie.
More character study than all-out carnage fest, it follows an unfortunate Franco-Norwegian musician named Sam who wakes from a party the night before only to find the world has ended zombie apocalypse style and he’s quite possibly the only living survivor left or at least in formerly gay Paris.
As the post-apocalyptic loner comes to terms with his fate we see him grapple with not only the zombie hordes – who unlike most of their counterparts are silent and all the more terrifying for it – but also keeping a grip on his own sanity.
Maybe the fact it’s such a departure from the norms of the zombie genre is why so many horror fans snubbed it – we stick largely to familiar formulas and this movie is about as far from the likes of World War Z as you can get.
But then that’s exactly what makes The Night Eats the World so brilliant and anybody sleeping on this film is missing out on a surprisingly refreshing take on the zombie apocalypse.
