10 Awesome Horror Villains Trapped In TERRIBLE Movies

6. The Ghosts - Thirteen Ghosts

Thirteen Ghosts
Warner Bros.

Thirteen Ghosts gets a lot of justified flak for its wonky writing, iffy acting, and spasmodic, distinctly early-aughts editing style, but it does at least mostly deliver on the promises of its title.

The film takes place in a lavish glass mansion which acts as a prison for 12 vengeful ghosts, who in the genre tradition are inevitably let loose to cause all manner of mayhem.

Though the movie doesn't stop too long to longer on any individual ghost, they do nevertheless make for a memorably gnarly and well-designed bunch.

They include the likes of The Torso (literally a dismembered man wrapped in plastic), The Angry Princess (a nude woman covered in scars), and The Hammer (a man with spikes driven through his body).

Each has an enticingly cartoonish, almost comic book-y backstory and presentation, the latter elevated by some terrific makeup effects.

Again, the movie as a whole is dumber than box of rocks, but it's nevertheless endured as something of a twisted cult fave largely due to its gallery of neato villains.
