4. Dorothy - The Wizard of Oz

Not an awesome character per se, but an annoying one whose imagination gave birth to one of the most by-turns nightmarish, weird and dazzling fantasy stories of all time. And that€™s the problem. Dorothy has a DayGlo fever-dream that looks like a collaboration between Lewis Carroll and Will Wonka, then €“ when she wakes up €“ believes it was real. Deciphering what goes on within that dream €“ flying monkeys, scabby witches, helium-voiced dwarves and all €“ would be a horrifying prospect even for Freud. It€™s not a glimpse into a healthy mind, that€™s for sure. And none of that€™s even taking into account the fact that Dorothy is obviously an adult woman dressed as a toddler. There€™s a worrying case of extreme delusion going on with that girl.
