10 Awesome Movie Moments With Disastrous Off-Screen Consequences

2. Independence Day - Crashing Alien Ships

Independence Day is a fun, campy B-movie that doesn't take itself at all seriously, and as a result we probably shouldn't think too much into the narrative's intricacies, but that didn't stop us doing so anyway. When it seemed like the chips were permanently down, the humans managed to fight back, disabling the mothership and causing every single one of the ships to lose power and begin crash landing. While we see one ship crash in Area 51, what about all the densely-populated areas that the ships which, remember, are 15-miles wide, presumably crashed in? Oh, no, that's a whole other movie for Roland Emmerich to make, no doubt. The humans might have kicked some ass, but they also caused the squashed-flat genocide of millions (if not more) of their own people, especially when you consider that each ship was stationed over a major city likely to contain tens of millions of people, rather than some backwater town in Arkansas.
