10 AWESOME Movie Trailers (Then The Film Sucked)

1. Clash Of The Titans (2010)

Terminator Salvation
Warner Bros.

The Trailer

Warner Bros.' first teaser trailer for 2010's Clash of the Titans remake looked absolutely metal, in large part thanks to the inspired use of The Used's song "The Bird and the Worm."

It was so perfectly suited to the fantastical imagery on display: Perseus (Sam Worthington) kicking ass, Zeus (Liam Neeson) slamming down his righteous fist, and best of all, a giant scorpion smashing its stinger on the ground in tune with the beat.

If nothing else, it suggested that the film would pay fitting homage to Ray Harryhausen's stop-motion work on the 1981 original while updating it for modern audiences.

The Film

Though certainly not a bad looking film, Clash suffers from a bland, charmless script and dreadfully wooden performance from Sam Worthington, who was caught in the midst of Hollywood's post-Avatar obsession with casting him in everything humanly possible.

Worthington simply wasn't a good choice for the lead, and has admitted in recent years he wasn't happy with his own performance either.

Ultimately it's a film that invested about 95% of its resources in cool set-pieces and visuals, and not enough in recapturing the spirit or soul of the '81 film.
