10 Awesome Movie Twists You Never Saw Coming

The Usual Suspects is a film almost entirely told via flashbacks, as they are recounted to a police detective by Roger "Verbal" Kint, a con artist with cerebral palsy. Verbal's tale revolves around a central character called Keyser Söze, a man few people have seen and lived to tell the tale.

As he spins his tale, he introduces a number of characters who make up the eponymous five crooks who came together to work a job. As the story continues, the audience is left to imagine which of the four men (other than Verbal) could possibly be Keyser Söze, and it's anyone's guess for most of the film.

Verbal's story is mostly told from the point of view of an observer, as he was involved with some of the goings-on related to the crime, but he was less a part of the action than the other characters. Of course, being a con man, his word is suspect... isn't it?

After the interview is over, Verbal gets up and leaves. The detective begins noticing things around the room that relates to Verbal's story, and it's clear that the character names, personality traits, and events were completely made up. Just as the truth begins to dawn on him, the scene switches to the street outside.

Verbal is seen limping toward a car, but as he continues to walk, his gait lengthens, and his stride becomes normal. Not only was he faking his cerebral palsy all along, but he was, in fact, Keyser Söze.
