10 Awesome Movies That Break The Fourth Wall

6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

I know, a James Bond movie breaking the fourth wall sounds kinda weird, and that's precisely because it is, but it was employed to amusing effect to try and break in the new one-hit wonder Bond, George Lazenby, in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Lazenby certainly had a lot to live up to, following Sean Connery's immensely iconic tenure in the role of James Bond, as well as the fact that this Bond film introduced some unexpected elements to the character, chiefly the fact that he actually gets married in this one. The fourth wall-breaking moment comes during the opening pre-credits sequence, as Bond saves future wife Tracy (Diana Rigg) from suicide, and then fends off a fleet of attackers. However, she rebuffs him, causing Bond to quip, "This never happened to the other fellow" (obviously referring to Connery), before looking right into the camera. It's a daring move for the franchise, and not one I'd ever want to see pulled off again, but it was a novel way introduce the new actor in a light-hearted way, and it definitely works.
