10 Awesome Movies That Break The Fourth Wall

4. Wayne's World

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lgLYGBbDNs One of my all-time favourite instances of breaking the fourth wall comes in Mike Myers and Dana Carvey's hilarious music comedy Wayne's World. The two have finally had their show picked up by a prominent network, but when their representative Benjamin (Rob Lowe) asks them to make some concessions for the sake of their sponsor, they work their way through a hilarious bit about the nature of product placement. With blatantly obvious product placement for the likes of Pizza Hut, Reebok and Doritos, the pair just about manage to keep their eyes away from the audience until Myers' Wayne finally gives in, declaring, "It's the choice of a new generation", before taking a chug of a can of Pepsi, and then grinning at the camera with the sort of enthusiasm only money can buy. At once satirising product placement and nodding knowingly at the audience, this is one of the best gags in the movie, and certainly the most memorable.
