Though the film is ludicrously surreal from its first minute, I don't think anyone quite expected this loony film to go out in such bizarre fashion; just as the final battle begins, a group of policemen arrive on the scene, arresting the knights, taking the cameras and ordering that the production be shut down immediately. It completely blindsides viewers, though is nevertheless totally in step tonally with everything that has come before. Rumours persist that this ending was chosen as a result of the budget running out to actually film a proper ending, and if so, that makes it even more hilarious. A true instance of a happy accident trumping anything else they could have ever planned.
