10 Awesome Movies That Have Aged Horribly

6. Batman

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63iuB-cSY7Q Tim Burton's Batman was, until the Christopher Nolan Batman films showed up, easily the best we had seen, far outdoing Joel Schumacher's underwhelming efforts, and watching the film now, that's precisely the problem. In retrospect, Tim Burton's visuals seem to completely overwhelm every other aspect of the film, from the (comparatively flaky) writing to the performance from Jack Nicholson as The Joker, which nowadays seems pretty laughable. It's a sign of the times that "grit" is in vogue these days, but after marvelling at Heath Ledger's stupendous, Oscar-winning performance as Batman's most prolific enemy, trying to watch Burton and Nicholson's take is something of a chore. Sure, Michael Keaton still stands as the second-best Batman and Kim Basinger is enticing eye candy, but pretty much everything the film tried was simply outdone by Nolan's trilogy, most notably the origin story of Bruce Wayne, as well as the action sequences and the technical proficiency of the whole piece.
