7. Fantasy - The Lord of The Rings Trilogy

bernard hill lord of the rings Fantasy is one of the hardest genres to successfully pull off as costs run high, artistic integrity, and the grand scale of any project. So Peter Jackson decided to film all three at once. The greatest aspect of the trilogy (disregarding the Hobbit) is that you can feel the grandeur of the project. From the smallest detail to the grandest of details, you€™re engrossed in the experience. The characters are charismatic, and an enjoyment to follow. Even the slower paced moments throughout the film felt like they were leading into something more intriguing. As each installment came and went the next was bigger and better, to the point that Return of the King earned best movie nomination and win. The amazing thing is it not only restricts itself to being an amazing thriller but an amazing Sci-Fi film as well. There have been a few movies since than that has really expanded the genre, but for its time it opened for more risky film productions.
