6. P.O.V. - Chronicle
POV is more of a style then it is a genre, but because its such a specific styling and as time progresses more and more films are being released in this style. One of the biggest grievances of POV is at times it gets dizzying and difficult to really focus on whats going on. Luckily Chronicle (hopefully) will help future films adopt this ideology that not all POV films will be shaky and nauseating. Chronicle follows a group of kids that come across a mysterious stone that gives them telekinetic powers. As one of the kids gets stronger, he learns to use his powers to hold the camera and half way through the film it just becomes second nature. At this point were no longer sitting there and asking ourselves Why are they filming with X going on? One of the most enjoyable aspects of the film is that its not a horror film. Other films have tried to expand it beyond horror (Project X) but none have been as successful as Chronicle. Hopefully if this trend continues we will see more films like this then its counterparts that caused the resurgence to begin with.
