10 Awesome Movies That STILL Aren't On Blu-Ray

4. The Beach

Solaris 2002
Fox

Danny Boyle's adaptation of the Alex Garland novel saw Leonard DiCaprio venture off into uncharted territory (literally) as his character, Richard, sought the adventure of a lifetime. In doing so, he came across an uninhabited island within the Gulf of Thailand (which, for him, sounded like paradise). Naturally, it didn't take long for that dream to turn into a nightmare.

The Beach may not have gone down all that well with critics, but it was an enjoyable thriller that allowed DiCaprio to once again highlight his talents as an actor. Furthermore, it received some well-earned praise for its stunning cinematography, which is hardly surprising, given that it was filmed on a Thai island named Koh Phi Phi which never failed to look like the Paradise island that protagonist Richard thought it was.

With all of that in mind, can you imagine how well those stunning visuals (not-to-mention the beautiful tropical colours) would look if the film was released on Blu-Ray? It's hard to believe that it hasn't happened yet, given how it was a financial success, because you'd imagine that Leonardo DiCaprio's legions of supporters would be quick to purchase a HD copy of one of his most well-remembered films.
