7. Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi - Special Edition
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShRgJTHewxE Speaking of which, here's our first of two directors who just can't leave their films alone, and the product ends up suffering for it. George Lucas' fantastic Star Wars Episode VI has been tinkered around with plenty over the years, though arguably the most offensive change was in the 1998 Special Edition, in which he lengthened the Max Rebo Band sequence, changing the music and adding some unsavoury CGI singers. The above clip is a composite of images from the original and Special Edition versions, which makes it stingingly clear where Lucas has added in needless CGI. Short of trying to replicate the hilarious Men in Black music video - which featured a dancing, singing alien - it's hard to know what Lucas was thinking when he put this together. It makes every fan of the original cut groan, and I can't imagine the music is much fun even for young children reared on it.
