10 Awesome Pixar Villains
4. Syndrome - The Incredibles
Though Pixar like to give some of their villains a back-story, so we as the audience won't completely hate the villain, the tactic purposely doesn't seem to work in 2004's The Incredibles. Pixar's first and sadly only foray into the world of superhero hijinks also gives us a back-story to the film's villain, Buddy Pine a.k.a Syndrome.
However, instead of feeling any sort of sympathy or empathy for this character, his complete lack of respect, decency and completely amoral character - as he is despicably willing to kill a mother and her young children, as well as every noble and honourable hero just to satisfy his own ego - make Syndrome a great but also completely unlikable Pixar villain.
Syndrome comes across as part-villain, part mad/genius scientist and part insane fanboy, which all help to make him slightly comical, as does his ridiculous hair, which appears as though gravity itself cannot defeat it. However, Syndrome's annoyingly egotistical character overpowers any pleasant attachment we can possibly have with him. By far the most evil and interesting aspect to Syndrome's character and history is the amount of superheroes he has invited over the years to his private island, all for the purpose of battles to the death, literally, with his robots and other dangerous technological inventions. Though we will never get to see Syndrome again because of his rather dark and gruesome death in the film, I would still love to see the early Syndrome years, and have insight into just how evil a villain he truly is.
