10 Awesome Slasher Films You've Probably Never Seen

9. Lover€™s Lane

Lover€™s Lane bases itself on a tale as old as time: a scary man with a hook for a hand who attacks couples in cars. We€™ve all heard it, and some of the more trusting of us may have believed it actually did happen to our friend€™s aunt€™s friend€™s uncle€™s cousin Charlie (also, did you know that the word gullible isn€™t in the dictionary? Look it up!) Released in 1999, Lover€™s Lane features a pre-Scary Movie Anna Faris, and is probably where she got her practice running around in such a ridiculous fashion. Yet, despite being released in 1999, the film looks incredibly dated compared to films like Scream (even though they, too, do admittedly look a little dated now), which is probably quite indicative to the budget it had. Despite these shortcomings, Lover€™s Lane manages to be pretty good at the slasher movie tension. Whilst the story is also a touch lacking (it's a slasher though, so "plot" is generally optional), the deaths are imaginative and detailed: someone actually gets a hook to the vagina, which we can probably all safely say we€™ve never seen, nor thought we€™d ever see. Or ever wanted to see, in all truth, but here we are. Whilst it doesn€™t really hold a candle to something like Scream, Lover€™s Lane is a great slasher romp that doesn€™t skimp on tomato sauce-esque blood splatter. Good show.

Fan of Taylor Swift and the Dead Kennedys (a duet I can only dream of). I like dystopias, slasher films, and video games that make me feel things.
