Embracing the crazy notion that Rose Tico exists and could have been used in Episode IX, she and Finn offer more to the story than just sending Leia's message. While this is extremely important, their part wasn't finished just yet.

On the streets of Coruscant, below the tyranny of the First Order, poverty is prominent at every turn. Rose and Finn rally to bring the down trodden men and women of Coruscant together and begin a revolt from the ground up. As the forces brought to the rebellion by Leia's speech attack the First Order from above, the make shift army led by Finn attack from below.

It wasn't just the former residents-turned-scavengers of the planet that followed the two rebels either. Whilst on the ground on Coruscant, Finn found a group of Stormtroopers, some that he even knew from his previous life, that like him were conflicted about their orders. The group ultimately join the revolution as Finn leads them into battle against their masters.

While the former stormtrooper's overall story left a lot to be desired in the sequel trilogy, this would have brought his arc full circle, allowing his defection to make a difference and inspire the same in others.
