10 Awesome Superhero Film Moments For When Marvel Owns Everything
5. Spider-Man/Wolverine Join New Avengers
Considered by many comic book fans as one of Marvels true game-changing moments, the 2004 launch of New Avengers marked a dramatic change to the series formula when Spider-Man and Wolverine were invited to join the flock. Both heroes had long been derided as not Avengers material in the years leading up to New Avengers, making this sudden reversal even more of a surprise. For Marvel, bringing two of its most popular properties into its most famous superteam was a move thats still paying financial dividends to this day. If the studios are searching for the right storyline to adapt, the best place to start is with the very first arc, "Breakout," which depicts how long-time Avenger stalwarts Captain America and Iron Man settled on this wacky new cast of superheroes. "Breakout" even has a ready-made villain in Electro, who is currently electrifying audiences in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Having Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the rest of the Avengers in one movie as part of a New Avengers adaptation would be as clear a sign as any that the three movie studios had found common ground. Fans have been clamouring for a cinematic team-up for years, and even some of its key players in Hollywood, such as The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb and actor Andrew Garfield, have talked publicly about how great such a movie would be.
