10 Awesome Superhero Film Moments For When Marvel Owns Everything
4. No More Mutants
For House of M to work cinematically, the powers that be would first have to settle on a characterisation of its main character, Wanda Maximoff, aka, Scarlet Witch. Is Scarlet Witch the mutant daughter of Magneto (and twin of Quicksilver) as she is in Foxs X-Men franchise, or will she end up being whatever she is technically supposed to be in Marvel Studios Avengers 2: Age of Ultron (as of right now, all we know is that she and her brother have powers, but they will certainly not be mutants)? Once that is settled, Hollywood would be foolish to not depict the iconic No more mutants decree from Wanda (as said in House of M #7), essentially undoing mutant powers from the majority of the Marvel Universe. They are also rife with other great character moments featuring heroes and villains from different studios, that would look fantastic on the big screen. There's the collective "wake up call" sequence where all of the heroes realise they're living in a universe manufactured by Wanda (including a particularly devastating scene involving Peter Parker and his first love Gwen Stacy); and Hawkeye's death (and teased survival) at the hands of Wanda. With so many characters getting so many individual beats and moments in House of M, the only way a film adaptation would provide the proper emotional heft is if everybody in Marvel could be used indiscriminately. Keeping the Marvel Studios and Fox universe's separate for a House of M movie would be telling an incomplete story.
