10 Awesome Superhero Film Moments For When Marvel Owns Everything
3. Spider-Man Unmasks In Civil War
Civil War is filled with shocking moments that would certainly lend themselves nicely to a film adaptation, but perhaps no scene is more mind-boggling as when Spider-Man who has arguably protected his secret identity more than any other Marvel superhero unmasks in public as a demonstration of his support for the Superhero Registration Act. The Marvel hero that convinces Peter Parker (a Sony property) that hes doing the right thing is Tony Stark, aka Iron Man (and a Marvel Studios icon). Stark is leading the pro-registration contingent of heroes in Civil War, and is directly at odds with Captain America and his team of protesters. But the Tony Stark/Peter Parker relationship that is on display in the issues leading up to Civil War is just as compelling as Iron Man vs. Captain America. The older Tony acts like a father figure to Peter; Marvels most famous orphan. He even creates a brand new Iron Spider suit for Peter, enhancing Spider-Man with some of Stark Industries finest technological advancements. After discovering that the pro-registration side is imprisoning protesters indefinitely and without due process, Peters idealistic illusions of Stark are shattered. He defects from Tonys side and joins Captain America and the Secret Avengers. Spider-Mans journey in Civil War is one of the core elements that make the mini one of the very best Marvel has ever put together. Incorporating a complex character like Spider-Man who is idealistic but burdened with doubt and guilt in a film version of Civil War is a necessity if the director hopes to capture the emotional beats of Mark Millars comic script.
